Page 392.  Jan 29, 1774 from John Elmore Sr. of L, to Robert Blackwell of L, for 50 £ which Elmore owes Blackwell + 5 shillings, a certain tract of about 200 acres of land in Cumberland Parish and L on the branches of Crooked Run cr whereon said John Elmore Sr. now lives, adjoining the lands of Jeremiah Burnett, David Moore, James Gunn, Thomas Liverett, & Reps Jones, & is the land said Elmore purchased of John Breattin by L deed.   To have and to hold, upon trust that Blackwell will, after Apr 25, 1774, sell the land, and from the money arising from such sale, discharge the debt.  Signed - John Warrand, Benja Pollard, John Manley, Jno Graham.  The deed of trust was recorded Apr 14, 1774.

Page 477.  Oct 7, 1774 from Moses Hurt Jr of Amelia County, to James Blakley of Chesterfield County, for 30 £, a certain tract of about 96 acres of land in L, bounded by the dividing branch on Matthew Turner's line, a line that was formerly Robert Moore Sr's, said Moore's line, a spring branch adjoining Robert Blackwell's line.  The land was granted to John Forrest by Thomas Riddle and Anne, his wife, on Nov 9, 1763 by L deed.  Signed - Moses Hurt Jr. Wit - Richd Lock, Joseph White, William Blackley Jr. Recorded Dec 14, 1775.

Page 259.  May 20, 1779 from Henry Buford and his wife [unnamed] of L, to Sanders Wray of L, for 300 £, about 96 acres in L, and bounded by Sanders Wray, Joel Pewet, Turner, ___ Pettypool.  signed - Henry Buford, Sarah (X her mark) Buford.  Wit - Robert Blackwell. Recorded Oct 14, 1779.

Page 366.  To Charles Hamlin and Robert Blackwell, Gent of L. Christopher Hinton, by his deed of [blank month and day], 1780, sold to Joseph Moseley of the County of Chesterfield, 75 acres in L. Ann, the wife of the said Christopher Hinton, cannot conveniently travel to our County Court to acknowledge the conveyance.  You are therefore given the power to receive her acknowledgement by personally going to her.  Signed Nov 9 in the 5th year of the Commonwealth - Wm. Taylor.
    Ann voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the lands conveyed.  Signed this 9 day of the year aforesaid - Robert Blackwell, Charles Hamlin.  Recorded Dec 14, 1780.

Page 486.  We, Richard Johnson, William Glenn, Robert Beasley, William Parrott, Daniel Melone, and William Thackston, bind ourselves this Sep 13, 1782 to Christopher Billups, Thomas Chambers, John Ragsdale, Jonathan Patteson, Charles Hamlin, Joseph Winn, Anthony Street, John Glenn, Stephen Edward Brodnax, Henry Stokes, Robert Blackwell, Francis DeGraffenreidt, John Ballard, Edward Jordon, Robert Dixon, Christopher Roberton, John Powell, Nicholas Hobson, and Edward Ragsdale, Gentlemen Justices of L, in the sum of 10,000 £ specie for value received.  By an act of the Assembly, power is vested in the justices, or a majority of them, to fix upon a place at or near the center of L for the erecting of a courthouse and other public buildings necessary for the building of L court.  In consideration of Michael Johnson being a person of present character.

Page 516.  Mar 14, 1783 from Michael Johnson of L, and Winney, his wife, to Christopher Billups, Thomas Chambers, John Ragsdale, Jonathan Patteson, Charles Hamlin, Joseph Winn, Anthony Street, John Glenn, Stephen Edward Brodnax, Henry Stokes, Robert Blackwell, Francis DeGraffenreidt, John Ballard, Edward Jordon, Robert Dixon, Christopher Roberton, John Powell, Nicholas Hobson, and Edward Ragsdale, Gent, Justices of L, for 5 shillings, for and in consideration of the Justices settling the L Courthouse on the land of the said Michael Johnson, Michael and Winny grant the Justices the land where the L Courthouse will be built.  The land contains about 270 acres.  Signed - Michael Johnson, Winney Johnson.  Wit - none.  Winey came into Court, and being firest privately examined, voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the lands conveyed.  Recorded Mar 13, 1783.

Page 451.  At Lunenburg Court of April 10, 1794, Jeane Blackwell, wife of Robert Blackwell, came into Court, and being first privately examined, voluntrily relinquished her right of dower to the land conveyed by her said husband to Thomas Blackwell.

Page 475.  Feb 8, 1794 from Robert Moore Sr. of L, to John Blackwell of L, for 15 £ 10 shillings, about 100 acres in L, and bounded by the mouth of the Reedy Branch on Cedar Cr, James Moore, the Alder Branch on Jesse More's line.  This deed is only as security for the said debt.  If Moore pays Blackwell 16 £ 2 shillings & 11 pence, being the principal + interest, by next Jan 1, then the above to be void.  Otherwise, Blackwell may sell the land to satisfy the debt, and will return any overplus to Moore.  More agrees the land may be sold only by advertising.  Signed - Robert Moore.  Wit - William (+ his mark) Featherston, Joseph Peace, Hugh Hammock.  Recorded Jul 10, 1794.
