JOHN BLACKWELL:  He preached the last sermon in 1839 at the Coosa Baptist Association at Mount Harmony church, now Menlo, Ga.  John  was a Revolutionary Soldier and a Pioneer Baptist Minister. According to the book "Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files," his claim number was S2083 of the NC line.  He filed for his pension in 1836 from Hickman County Tennesse at age 81.  He Volunteered for service in Burke County NC, moved to Abbeville County SC in 1784 & in 1797 or 98 moved to Franklin County GA, then in 1814 moved to Hickman County TN.

Notes for ZACHARIAH BLACKWELL:
The below notes have some of the facts confused with the elder Zachariah. This one is only a guess that he is the son of the Elder Zachariah who was associated with State Line Baptist Church.  Zechariah's trade was that of a "Miller."  He and Rebecca moved to the Spartanburg area of South Carolina in 1820 before their third child, Sarah, was born.  Zechariah owned 200 acres of land between present day Cowpens, SC just east of present day Highway 221A.  The Present day State Line Baptist Church is located on 3 acres of ground Zechariah gave them to build their 2nd church building.  This information was provided by church historian at State Line Baptist Church.  The church was established in 1797 in North Carolina. Spartenburg County formed the South Carolina Border.  The State Line Church operated in NC just over the border for a number of years before it became inactive for about three years.  The first church was torn down during this inactive time period.  Zechariah deeded the church three acres of his land and he personally built a new church building on the property called "State Line Baptist Church" on the South Carolina side of the border.  He was the pastor of the church and also operated the Grist mill in the area.  Records indicate he sold his farm to Andrew Wray in 1827.  He continued to serve the church as an elder from 1828 to 1837 when he moved to Northern and Western Spartanburg County.  The present day "State Line Baptist Church" has its beautiful church building and cemetery on the land deeded them by Zecheriah.

He and Louisa moved to Rutherfordton in Rutherford County, NC in 1865 and lived there when their first two children were born.  They moved back to SC in 1876 before John J was born.  They lived in that area until George was born.  Some time after George's birth, they started west and settled in Fannin County, Texas.  Walter was born in Leonard, Fannin County, TX.  The John Melton Blackwells moved from Fannin County, TX to Oklahoma in 1910 to a place just west of their son, John J.  They had a 160 acre farm one mile north and two miles west of Corbett where they lived until their deaths.  John was in the Confederate Army.  He was in Company K, I (Hayoods) South Carolina Inf.  He and family are buried in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Cleveland Cnty, OK50

Notes for JAMES FRANKLIN BLACKWELL:
James Franklin and Nancy worked in North and South Carolina in the first years of their marriage.  They moved to Texas in the 1880's.  They bought a farm in the New Bazil community about three miles West of Wolfe City in Hunt County.  There was no school at this time.  A Mr. Roddy donated some land and the other men gave money to build the new Bazil school.  James (Jim) Blackwell, Bill Medlin, Lark Bethel, Bob Craig, Cy George Williams, Bill Craig, Van Hall, and Mr. Pie all gave money for the school to be built.  James F. had Black hair, brown eyes and was dark complected.  James married second Mary Caroline Hall.  She was known as Carrie.  In the early 1900's James F. and Carrie moved to Lexington, Oklahoma.  His brother John Melton and Half brother Jones Smith also moved up there.  James and Mary "Carrie" Caroline Hall are buried in Willow View Cemetery.
